Group 6: 1968-1987
The Presentation
This was a massive school project all together. It took over 8 weeks to do, and the final presentation was 100 minutes long (and was presented over 2 1/2 days). Of the four of us in the group, I was the technical person. We decided to do our presentation as a TV news broadcast. We alternated between live performances in the classroom and pre-recorded sections done in front of a blue screen with video footage placed behind. It was a challenge keeping everything continous while switching between the two presentation styles. Those videos are not currently not included on this page but may one day.The Leave Behind
Another part of the project was the 'Leave-Behind'. After both class periods you were supposed to give out a handout or other material for the students to be able to study from to make sure they learned all important facts from the class. We decided to do ours as an interactive CD. The CD auto-started with a Visual Basic program that simply acted as an Internet Explorer web browser. The webpages that it loaded contained all of the information, along with a quiz that graded itself and interactive timeline. Because our presentation was split up over multiple days, it was only sensible that you should not be able to look ahead at content that we had not shown in class yet. This was done by using the system clock and displaying the correct set of links on the index page. The overall Leave Behind required Visual Basic, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Also remember that this was on a CD and not over the Internet, so the Intro video will not load in time.
